Thanks for writing this review up! I've watched both 'One and Only' and 'Forever and Ever'. Your reactions to OaO - it's same with me. OaO is one of those dramas where your heart gets tortured but the rewarding majestic picture (of love) painted - you don't regret the pain. And yes, the Allen Ren video: he sang the theme song so beautifully - capturing the emo of the serial so well.
I found myself watching 'FaE' to the end. But I am really troubled and hope someone can help me out.
**SPOILER ALERT** !!....
The CP in FaE seem like very different people from the CP in OaO. Allen Ren's general in OaO is bold, brave and assertive. Allen Ren's professor in FaE is meek, timid, shy and socially awkward. Bailu's character in OaO is weak and withdrawn. Bailu's character in FaE is bold and daring. I cannot see the connection between the CP in OaO and CP in FaE - they seem like 2 different sets of CPs. Consequently, I cannot understand how FaE is a follow up story to OaO. They feel to me like 2 separate stand-alone stories. As a result - I have no healing from the trauma of OaO, which FaE is (as I understand it) there Happy Ending.
*END of SPOILER ALERT*

Don't bother about road home, too cheesy as you say. Can review the newish Korean drama Moving? Btw I think the young couple is too young to play the roles, or ah there are supposed to be young since it's past lives. I do remember the Prince was much older than her tho'
I started watching Road Home cos of Seven Tan. I became a fan of hers after her excellent performance in Go Ahead. Unfortunately, I think Seven Tan was miscast for Road Home. I dont think Seven Tan did well in Road Home. Yet, I joyfully finished Road Home because of Jing Boran. I didnt know him before Road Home, but in Road Home, he was Simply Great.
He is in a good movie with Zhong Donyu who is in Anthony Chen's breaking ice. Dongyu is excellent actress. The movie is called "US" , a couple of years back, and much better than breaking ice
Oo - I saw that one! The 2 leads in US were great. I was esp enthralled by Zhou Dongyu. Didn't make the connection that the ML in US is Jing Boran ..... Nice!
So, technically, One and Only and Forever and Ever is one story - did I get that right? If so, that would be rather poetic and bearable (as I hate tragic ends with a passion)
I know the writer, how come I never saw this series. If it's "Beautiful Bones" which I read a long time ago, isn't it a modern series, and the couple, have past lives together. I saw The Road Home, I liked reading it, but watching it was a little painful, too long, he was a eye 👁️ candy and has acting chops, she was alright but too too longkang 😂
Yes!! It's the same one I think. Written more to be a modern series, but the production team have made it into two shows instead (to really milk it for what it's worth I suppose). I tried reading the novel too, but I found the period drama actually really well done.
Yeah, The Road Home is a bit too cheesy for me!! Maybe I should write about that too at some point....

Yes, technically by the book! But they’re quite separated for the two dramas. The modern one has some references to the past!
